PLANT STUFF FOR PLANT KIDS
A low maintenance approach to plant care, this is a fertiliser for people who forget to fertilise (no judgement! #Shelfcaresundays aren't for everyone...).
We've looked to the oceans to create this natural product packed with all the perks of three of the most beneficial seaweed varieties, paired with our old friend, nutrient rich Frass.
Our Bio Pellets are packed with nutrients that slowly release into soil to keep plants happy and healthy. But why stop there? These little pellets punch well above their weight by:
And....in case you were wondering? Yup, it's a natural, organic product.
We‚have created these pellets using a combination of three Australian Certified Organic (ACO) Kelps and sustainable, carbon-negative Frass.
Yelp about Kelp
Kelp is known for its benefits in improving soil conditions as well as enhancing growth and flowering. It is a fantastic anti-stress product, so is great to use when transplanting. Our Bio Pellets use a combination of three types of Kelp each with their own unique benefits when it comes to supporting healthy plants.
Laminaria - can assist with recovery of previous viruses
Sargassum - full of alginic acid which boosts water retention
Ascophyllum nodosum - rich in cyctokinins (hormones that promotecell division, or cytokinesis, in plant roots and shoots). It also features the highest mineral content of any kelp.
Yass to Frass
We have waxed lyrical about Frass before, but - just in case you missed it - Frass is the product of sustainably sourced food waste transformed into a microbe-packed fertiliser. It is an all-natural organic product full of amino acids, macronutrients, microbes and chitin.
Pellets break down into the soil over a period of weeks, depending on moisture and heat. As they break down they slowly release the nutrients, acids and hormones from the seaweed and frass, making sure your plants have a consistent supply of the good stuff and leaving them want for nothing.

Application Rate
One tablespoon (approx. 8-10 pellets) every 6-8 weeks for best results. Alternatively, sprinkle a few pellets around the root ball every two weeks.
When repotting, add one tablespoon of pellets for every 200ml of potting mix and mix through to help reduce transplant shock.
Can be applied all year round
Can I use this with The Plant Runner Indoor Plant Food?
Sure can. For best results, feed you plants with the Plant Runner Indoor Plant Food once a month while your plants are actively growing, and apply Bio Pellets as directed all year round.
Can I use this with The Plant Runner Soil & Microbe Booster?
Yeah yeah! We suggest using the Soil & Microbe Booster once when repotting, and then using the Bio Pellets as directed every 6-8 weeks
You use seaweed? Does this mean i can go collect my own and throw it on my plants?
Well you could! We've done a blog post about the benefits of seaweed here [link to blog] but grabbing your own and throwing them on your plants would be a little smelly for one. But the real difference between the seaweed used in our Bio Pellets and the seaweed you might find washed up on shore is that we have used a combination of three specific types of kelp chosen for their nutrient and hormonal profile and their unique benefits for plants.
Let's talk Frass. Never heard of it.
That's ok - you have now! Frass is an organic and natural fertiliser made from insect manure. It...
Wait what? Insect manure?
Yup! Produced right here in Melbourne, our Frass comes from black soldier fly larvae. It's production process is carbon-negative and is a unique plant fertiliser. Our Frass is more microbially diverse than other natural fertilisers like worm castings and compost. It has an NPK of 4:2:2 and is full of trace nutrients. It is also an excellent source of Chitin.
What is Chitin?
Chitin can be found in the exoskeleton of anthropods and the cell walls of fungi. The Chitin in our Soil and Microbe Booster comes from the exoskeletons of the black soldier fly larvae that are shed during the production process. Chitin can help defend plants from pathogens and promotes the populations of microorganisms that consume pathogenic microbes, like those that cause root rot. Chitin has also been linked to the higher capture of atmospheric nitrogen and improved plant performance. Furthermore, studies have found that exposure to chitin in plants increases the expression of genes involved in the resistance of phytopathogens.
